According to Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany, a tier-two source, Manchester United have held initial discussions with RB Leipzig about signing Timo Werner next year.
The Red Devils reportedly hope to sign him in the winter transfer window but have not made any offer or opened negotiations for the price.
Man United signed Mason Mount from Chelsea over the summer but he's not lived up to the potential so far. He will also miss at least a month's action, thanks to an injury.
Werner endured a disastrous spell at Chelsea before moving back to RB Leipzig. However, Plettenberg adds that Werner is not happy at the German club either.
The 27-year-old has scored just twice for Leipzig in the Bundesliga so far. Over the course of two seasons at Chelsea, Werner scored 20 goals before leaving the club for a fee worth £25.3 million in the summer of 2022.
