According to Sport Mikel Arteta has made it clear he wants to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino without any problems this summer.

The Arsenal player has already held talks with the Spanish midfielder to reveal big plans at the club for him.

Merino has been linked with a move to North London following talks with Arteta. It is now up to Arsenal to secure a transfer seal.

Arteta may be looking at the 28-year-old midfielder to replace Thomas Partey who is reportedly set to be sold.

Merino made 45 appearances for Real Sociedad in all competitions last season scoring eight goals and providing 5 assists in all competitions.
